Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Voluntary Action Center. The community members of LaSalle, Putnam, Bureau Counties IL are dedicated and committed to the success of our communities. Their dedication and donation of time and services result in the success of our programs. Become a Volunteer for the Voluntary Action Center to make a difference in Lasalle, Putnam & Bureau Counties IL.
Volunteer opportunities range from delivery of a hot noon meal to our homebound senior citizens, working within our congregate program, participating in fundraising activities, and volunteering for our Meals on Wheels program.
Our volunteers unite to help those in need lead healthy lives by remaining in their homes and actively participating in the community. Volunteering is a rewarding experience for the young and old. Voluntary Action Center salutes them all and commends them on their gracious efforts and time dedication.
VAC appreciates all volunteers. Every gift, large or small, means another ride for someone disabled or a warm and nutritious meal for the elderly.

Volunteer Availability
LaSalle Site: Any time between 6am–2p Monday–Friday
- 6am-8am: Kitchen help
- 8am-10pm: Packing individual cold bags/ kitchen clean up
- 10am-12pm: Delivering meals in towns that range from: la Salle, Peru, Princeton, Tonica, Granville, Mark, Oglesby, Utica, Spring Valley, Ladd, Mendota, Earlville, and all surrounding country towns in all 3 counties
- 12pm-2pm: Office work or kitchen prep for the next day
Streator Site: Any time between 6am–1p Monday–Friday
- 6am-8am: Kitchen help
- 8am-10pm: Packing individual cold bags
- 10am-12pm: Delivering meals
- 12pm-1pm: Serve Congregate/ kitchen clean up
Ottawa Site: Any time between 6am–2p Monday–Friday
- 6am-8am: Kitchen help
- 8am-10pm: Packing individual cold bags
- 10am-12pm: Delivering meals in towns that range from: Ottawa, Grandridge, Marseilles, Seneca or just the rural areas of these towns is a possibility as well
- 12pm-2pm: Office work or kitchen prep for the next day/ kitchen clean up
