Register for Meals on Wheels

Voluntary Action Center provides home delivery of nutritious meals through the Meals on Wheels program. The program is available to residents of LaSalle, Putnam and Bureau Counties who are 60 years of age or older, and their spouses. Anyone can refer a resident of these counties to the program, including self-referral, physician’s office, hospital and family member.

Residents complete a registration form, along with an intake assessment with the help of the Meals on Wheels staff. The assessment includes questions on whether the resident is able to cook a nutritious meal, consider dietary changes when cooking, if transportation is available to and from the grocery store, and if they live alone. Meals are delivered around the noon hour and delivery days vary depending on the delivery area.  For a delivery schedule in your community call Voluntary Action Center at 815-883-3630.

Frozen meals may be an option for those seniors living in rural areas where Meals on Wheels delivery is not available.
