Voluntary Action Center provides home delivery of nutritious meals through the Meals on Wheels Program. The program is available to residents of DeKalb County who are 60 years or older and their spouses. Anyone can refer a DeKalb County resident to the program including self referral, physician’s office, hospital, and family member.
Residents complete a registration form, along with an intake assessment with the help of the Meals on Wheels staff. The assessment includes questions on whether the resident is able to cook a nutritious meal, consider dietary changes when cooking, if transportation is available to and from the grocery store, and if they live alone. Meals are delivered by volunteers around the noon hour Monday through Friday.
