SYCAMORE – The Voluntary Action Center is looking for volunteers to help deliver meals to DeKalb County residents in need.

There are nine months that have one or two routes not covered throughout the next year, according to a news release.

Volunteers use their own vehicles to arrive between 10:30 and 11 a.m. at VAC’s community kitchens in Sandwich or Sycamore to pick up the meals and then deliver the meals on a regular route, the release said. VAC officials said in the release that the typical time commitment is one hour or less a route.
The program has 12 routes serving DeKalb and Sycamore and four routes serving Sandwich and Somonauk. About 1,500 volunteers help deliver the meals each year, according to a news release.

VAC also is recruiting individual volunteers to help with routes on a weekly basis, monthly basis or as an on-call volunteer.
