LaSalle Senior Lunch Program

Community nutrition programs are important for older adults living alone and/or those who are financially at risk. This program provides nutritious meals along with opportunities for socialization and volunteering at local community settings in LaSalle and Bureau Counties.

Congregate meal sites are available to those senior citizens age 60 and over and their spouses, and others that qualify. There are four congregate luncheon sites in LaSalle County and one in Bureau County where seniors can go to enjoy a meal, socialize with others and catch up on the news of the day. At times throughout the month, some sites participate in activities such as bingo, birthday celebrations, holiday get together, informational and community presentations.

Reservations for a meal are recommended in advance. Participants are provided an opportunity to make a donation towards the cost of the meal. No senior will be denied a meal due to unwillingness or inability to make a donation.

Voluntary Action Center receives Title III Older Americans Act funding and State of Illinois General Revenue Funds through the Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging.
