The Voluntary Action Center (VAC), a dynamic nonprofit that offers community transportation and nutrition programs to multiple counties in north central Illinois, is currently accepting job applications for a qualified Finance Director at our Sycamore, IL administrative office.
Responsibilities: While reporting directly to the CEO/President, the Finance Director is responsible for financial reporting, long-term financial planning, investment portfolios, the annual audit preparation, bank reconciliations, and works closely with directors and managers to prepare the annual budget. In addition, this position is responsible for the coordination and supervision of staff that executes daily and long-term financial operations such as invoicing, utility billing, payroll, journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash receipting. The Finance Director must demonstrate good, independent judgment, an ability to be approachable and professional, solid problem solving skills, an ability to handle multiple tasks, and an ability to be self-motivated and well organized.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, public or business administration, or related field. Valid Illinois driver’s license required by date of hire.
Experience: Minimum three (3) years work experience in a management position in a multi-level organization performing related responsibilities and tasks. Five (5) to seven years (7) in a mid-level financial or accounting management position and supervisory experience a plus.
