Our Nutritional Programs…
Voluntary Action Center provides nutritious food as well as social contact to homebound and senior citizens through our Meals on Wheels program. VAC also offers congregate luncheon sites in the community for those who are able to gather for lunch and social activities. The goal of our nutrition programs is to help our senior citizens live independently in their home and communities, while monitoring their nutritional intake and providing healthy meals for their overall well being.
All of the meals are designed to meet one third of the federal nutritional Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) standards.
Voluntary Action Center’s nutrition programs are open to LaSalle, Putnam and Bureau Counties senior citizens 60 years of age and older and their spouses. Persons with disabilities may also be eligible.
There is a suggested donation for the meal, but no one is refused a meal based on their income level or willingness or ability to monetarily support the programs.
Our nutrition services also expand into the community by providing meals for local day care programs. The quality of these meals equal the high standards Voluntary Action Center adheres to for all of its programs.
